Zonta Club of Alabang to Launch ONE SYSTEM Book
- Published 02/17/2010

The Zonta Club of Alabang will be launching “One System” – the first of a series of books on the relationship between diet and disease – on February 19, 2010, 3:00 pm at the Bizu Patisserie & Bistro, Greenbelt 2 Makati.
One System is an offshoot of the club’s M.A.M.A. (Mothers for Ampalaya, Malunggay, and Aloe Vera) nutrition education program launched in 2009 to provide women with vital information about what constitutes disease and what the body depends on for its strength and health.
“Three out of 10 women in the Philippines have the early symptoms of cancer, and some are already in the late stages of the disease. Ninety percent of these women do not have the financial capability to fight it,” says One System author Medilen Singh. “But disease is something that can be reversed naturally and inexpensively in its early stages with the correct diet and the healing powers of the body.”
Singh’s book explains, in friendly language and charming illustrations, the role of micro-organisms in both nature and the human body, how disease occurs in their absence, and how to provide them with the proper nutrients in order to maintain good health.
“The micro-organisms in our bodies that break down the food we eat are the same micro-organisms that break down waste in Nature and turn that waste back into beneficial compost. The system in Nature and inside our bodies are one and the same – hence the title of the book,” explains ZCA Treasurer Denise Mañosa. “One System is primarily a book about health and nutrition, but it is also a book about ecology and the need to protect the environment from which we derive our food.”
“One System and the other books to follow in our nutritional education series go hand in hand with our club’s efforts to empower and uplift the status of women,” says Kathleen Liechtenstein, president of the Zonta Club of Alabang.
“Publishing the series allows this crucial information to be disseminated more widely, and it is our hope that other organizations can take up the cause with us and help implement the practices found here in other parts of the country.”
One System is written by Medilen Singh, illustrated by Robby Singh, and published by Sabina’s Books.
